Do you rewind? / Spiritual Time Travel

Do you ever go back and listen to your old playlists?
Not just an individual song, but the entire playlist - the whole emotional chapter it represents.
It's true that every song connects us to an emotion, or a person or an incident.
But a playlist connects us to an entire phase of life.
Listening to a song is like watching a sunset or a hearing a bird sing.
A playlist is experiencing the whole autumn or spring.
Do you listen to your old playlists?
To feel what you once felt?
Or to return to feelings you long for?
It makes you feel nostalgic; for a time, a place, a person or a version of you.
It stirs a sense of hiraeth; a Welsh word without a perfect English translation, often described as a deep, bittersweet longing for something that no longer exists… or maybe never did.
What a coincidence that today's journal doodle was a headphone.
Music is a time machine.
Playlists are parallel universes it takes you through.
Some you lived through and wish you never left.
Some you wish you'd never travelled.
Some you have never experienced and yet you long to.
Listening to your old playlists is like a spiritual time travel through space and time continuum of your own mind.
A personal universe you created.
Or a winding road trip through the hills, full of sharp turns, ups and downs, yet always surrounded by nature's best canvas.
So pause your life for a moment.
Rewind to those old playlists.
Press play.
We all need that spiritual time travel once in a while.
